Before I begin, how is that I have blogged more on vacation than I have at home? Maybe it's the peace and quiet, my mom, dad, and sister have allowed me to have? This morning my dad and sister woke up with Darin allowing both my mom and I to sleep in! It was glorious. I'm scared to go home and have to actually do the fulltime mommy thing again! Good thing Labor Day is coming up and Matt will have a few days off! Have I ever mentioned how spoiled I am?
Onto the purpose of the post. Yesterday (August 23,2009) I was blessed beyond measure to take part in a photo shoot swap with a fellow photographer and very dear friend, Heather. Our lives seem to parallel each other and my only regret is that she wasn't my dearest friend in high school, I could kick myself! Anyway, I shot her and her beautiful family and she shot my mom, dad and Darin. Matt didn't come with us on our vacation and "family" pictures without a large part of the family seemed silly. Then I was perusing the fabulous blog of Misty Smith and saw she had done a grandparent/grandchild shoot! How perfect, for the time being Darin is the only grandchild on my side of the family and I thought it would be fun to capture the bond he has with his Memaw and Papa. After the shoot, we both rushed home and put the unedited files onto discs and then traded. I will still probably edit some of the ones I shot of them, because of my aholic nature, so be on the look out sometime after I get home for those.
Immediately after Heather left my parents house, we rushed to my sister's computer to check out the disc! We've come to the strong conclusion that they are ALL our favorites! This picture, all I did was put the watermark and bump the contrast. It will be on my wall SOON as I'm sending it off to the lab (without the watermark) today so it can be waiting on me to get home. THIS is Darin. It captures him so well! The running, looking back at to make sure he's got followers and the smiles on my parents faces make my heart still, I am beyond in love.
Heather, if this was the only picture you captured, I would of been happy. You've captured the essence of my sweet love and I cannot begin to thank you for that gift.
be still my heart. {shoot swap}
