home sweet home. {random personal photography}

Home. Obviously I won't be home in Minnesota for another week and a half, but I wanted to blog just a couple of pictures from earlier today while I'm home in sweet, warm, humid, fabulous Jacksonville. They struck a cord on my heart and of course, I had to share. In my parent's cul-de-sac, there are 3 little ones (well, 2 that live here and then Darin) that are all within 4 months of each other. My sister took Darin outside just for some playtime earlier, and let me just interject that Darin LOVES outside time*, and he ran straight towards the other kids like they had been friends for YEARS.

*we don't play outside when we're at home because the bugs are so bad and I hate seeing Darin get all bitten! the bugs here are smaller and less vicious so we can't be eaten alive by them.

Anyway, one of the moms offered Darin a popsicle and he LOVED it. Of course, it dribbled all over and got all sticky (and grass covered...) so afterwards he washed off in the waterhose. Summer is grand, isn't it?

This last one is just an upclose of my mom's Bird of Paradise plant. It was split from the original plant that my great grandfather had in his backyard. When my great grandmother passed away, my aunts dug the plant up and each sister and all the cousins got their very own. My mom just adopted hers in May, and now she has a beautiful bird. {thanks to Heather for inspiring the "macro" attempt, although it was shot with a 50mm 1.8, so it's not technically macro, haha. }
